How does furcle work?
furcle works by connecting people who have stuff they want to be rid of with people who are after secondhand stuff. Think "online garage sale". furcle makes it quick and simple to list or search in your local area. If you're getting rid of stuff, you can give it away, swap it for something in return, ask for a fair price or pay someone to take it away. furcle does't get in the way, we simply connect people who have stuff with those that want it.

Why use furcle?
We built furcle specifically to help with re-using secondhand goods. If you're interested in reducing your consumption and environmental footprint then furcle can help. There are many places you might be able to do this but we believe that furcle is great because:
- furcle is simple - it takes no time at all to submit a listing or to find a listing for secondhand stuff.
- furcle is local - where better to find secondhand stuff than in your local area?
- furcle is focused - we're focused on secondhand stuff, not new. Re-use.

How can I find stuff?
Just type in what you're looking for in the search box at the top of the page. You might like to search for a category of items (e.g. book), a suburb or town (e.g. lilyfield), a postcode, or any other keywords that might be in the listing you're looking for. You can also combine search phrases to get more specific, for example, "book lilyfield" will show you all the books in Lilyfield.

How will I know someone is interested in my stuff?
When someone is interested in the stuff you've listed on furcle, they can request your contact details. You'll receive a message in your Messages, which shows up at the top of the page when you're linked in, notifying you that someone has requested your contact details. What does furcle mean?
furcle is a combination of Full Circle. As in what goes around comes around. As in the circle of life. My, how witty. To be honest, it was our working name for this project and then it just stuck. Especially because we could get the domain name furcle

Where does furcle work?
At the moment furcle only works in Australia because we only have Australian suburbs. We're hoping to add support for new countries in the not too distant future.

What is stuff?
Apart from a B-grade horror flick from the mid 80's, stuff is the collective term for the things that you acquire over time. You might be given things or buy things, but eventually those things end up cluttering a shelf somewhere. Those things could be given a good home when they're no longer of use to you. Our Ode to stuff probably says it best.

Will using furcle make me more attractive?
One of our most popular questions. In short, no. But if you've got any ideas how, then we'd love to hear about it.

When is a good time to de-clutter?
Any time is a good time to declutter your space. Work, home, it doesn't matter but here's some ideas.
- When you move house. Easier to move just the stuff you want or need, not everything
- When spring cleaning comes around.
- When you finally get rid of the kids and downside your house.
- When you discover that you have 16 bottle openers.
- When you realise that you're continually moving things to get to other things.
- When it's rainy day outside when you're stuck inside with your stuff.
- When you break up with your boyfriend or girlfriend, that @#$%#@$%.

I'm in love with furcle, how can I share it with the world?
Awww schucks. Thanks from all of us. Why not let your love show through some sky writing, or maybe composing a ballad. If that's not your style, we'd love you back for sharing furcle online:

Why would I give something away for free?
We created furcle because we knew we had stuff that we'd quite happily give away to a good home. Not only did it allow us to satisfy our insatiable, obsessive desire to de-clutter but it's an opportunity to help out someone else. If you've got something you never use, why not let someone else get some benefit from it. Why not give it away if you don't need the money? If you've got a great story about stuff that you've given away in the past. Maybe something that helped someone out more than you thought. Please let us know by sending us an email.

How much landfill is created by hard rubbish collection every year?
This is a good question. We're not actually sure but given the amount of old household items that are left on the side of the road for hard-rubbish pick up a few times a year, we'd hazard a guess that it's a lot! Saying that, we're looking into it so stay tuned.

Does Santa Claus use furcle?
Who'd have thought that this would be a frequently asked question? Unfortunately we can't divulge whether or not Santa uses furcle because that would be at odds with our privacy policy. We certainly hope so!
